Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the immigration pathways managed through Canada's Express Entry system for skilled trades professionals who wish to become Permanent Residents of Canada.
To be eligible, applicants must generally:
- Have at least 2 years (3,120 hours) of paid full-time work experience, or equivalent part-time experience, in an eligible skilled trade within the last 5 years
- Meet the required language proficiency levels in English or French
- Have either a valid full-time job offer in Canada for at least one year OR a Certificate of Qualification issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority
- Major Groups 72 – Industrial, Electrical and Construction Trades
- Major Groups 73 – Maintenance and Equipment Operation Trades
- Major Groups 82 & 83 – Natural Resources, Agriculture and Related Production Occupations
- Major Groups 92 & 93 – Processing, Manufacturing, Utilities Supervisors and Operators
- Minor Group 6320 – Cooks, Chefs and Related Occupations
- Unit Group 62200 – Chefs
