Federal skilled worker program
Federal Skilled Worker applications are assessed based on candidate's capability to become financially established upon immigration to Canada. They are persons with suitable work age, experience, education, and language proficiency and are selected under Express Entry to seek for Permanent Residence.
The applicant must meet the following conditions to qualify:
- Have one year of continuing full time paid work experience or similar in part-time constant employment within previous 10 years in one of the eligible occupations in skill levels A or B or skill type O of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC)
- Score enough points under skilled worker grid including of six selection factors, scoring minimum 67 points out of 100
- Go through language testing from a recognized third party and show language skills in French or English corresponding to the Canadian Language Benchmark of 7
- Have satisfactory settlement funds
- Go through a successful police and medical examination

On January 1st, 2015, applicants who qualify under Federal Skilled Trades Program will be selected to apply through the Express Entry System.
